How it all Began..
Since 1959, the Clark family has provided generations of customers a lifetime of boating experiences.
Ed Clark was a young entrepreneur who held a commercial and instructor pilots license, while working working for his father raising cattle and race horses.
In a few short years the local tourism industry would peak his interests, driving him and other local business men to put Gananoque and the 1000 islands on the map as a major travel destination.
“I kept expanding after that and
it worked out very well.” Ed Clark
In 1953 Ed bought the farm from his father and built cabins while he continued to run the flight school. But by 1958 it was apparent to him that the 1000 Islands were becoming world renowned as a premier boating destination and the area lacked boat dockage and storage. After long contemplating the marina business, Brome Folks and Jack Barrett came up to him and asked if he would build a boat house for them to use.
“Well that put the bee in my bonnet and I wanted to do something different, so I went to Kemptville to see some used construction equipment and I had seen what somebody else had done around Peterborough making boat slips. In fact, I went up a couple of times, north of Peterborough. There were a lot of marinas up there and I finally bought a TBow backhoe, very small, and I tried to dig a canal.” – Ed Clark
With his experience, ingenuity, and imagination, Ed Clark would open Clark’s Marina to the public the next year in 1959. Ed’s son Bruce later joined the company in 1972, where it expanded from 40 slips to 160 slips today. Bruce’s sons Sean, Mike and Andy are now the third generation of Clark’s to manage daily operations of the family business.
The Clark’s family-friendly nature and dependable reputation are deep kindred traits that continue to drive Clark’s Marina.
We believe that the Clark name in the local boating industry signifies a dependable reputation, one that has created a boating family culture. It is this boating family that keeps driving Clark’s Marina towards a boating experience like none other.

Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Saturday: Closed
Sunday: Closed
